A Change of Pace

Psalm 139

It was the mention of “the hills” in Psalm 121 last week that got me staring at the mountains this week.

They never fail to catch my attention when I’m hanging out the washing or driving to the shops – but I really see them in all their magnificence when I’m out for a walk and they are spread out before me.  So lovely to gaze at, so inspiring – – –

Everything slows down a little, I change my pace – – –

They’re so big – – – but He is bigger.

He is big and I am small – almost ant like.

– – – yet He sees me and knows me.

They touch the clouds.  They spread out and over shadow me  – – –

I remember that He covers me.

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

I imagine it’s quiet up there. No rushing, no turmoil, you can hear things breathing.

He hears our breathing – He hears our prayer.

Is there anything He doesn’t know? Is there anything He cannot do?

Things look different from up there.  You can see so much more.  What looks big down here is tiny from up there.

Is there anything He cannot see?

He sees us – – –  our busyness, our planning, our doing and making and working – all part of our humanness – all part of the life we lead – but what amazes me is this – He is in amongst it with us – He is here alongside us -not just for a little while but for the long haul. He is not put off by us – He hasn’t made a hasty retreat back up the mountain – we are not too much for Him. Rather He sent Jesus to save us & the Holy Spirit to walk right along side us.

So vast, so great, so magnificent yet  – – – He is with us.

“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake, But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you, And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,” Says the LORD, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

Winter Warm Up ~ Saturday the 12th of July

Our Winter Warm Up lunch is coming up soon and it’s gonna be so good!!! We will be meeting in the Ribbonwood Centres, Laurel Room at 1pm for lunch. We will be enjoying some delicious home made soups and desserts and coffee made to order courtesy of Ben Bayliss and Vaflers. There will be scented candles to enjoy, lots of chat and our guest speaker for the afternoon is Helen McGuire. She sent us a little note this week.

Hi, Im Helen and have been great friends with Tracey Cross for a long time. I’m a country girl from Armidale, my parents travelled to 1st world countries for years. Then I found myself going to 3rd world countries in 1996, I’m still going and I’ve been grateful to God ever since.

It’s been amazing to learn from these beautiful people and help them in whatever way I could. I’m a changed woman from the experiences! It blows me away that this simple ol’ girl can have such a blast with people who don’t look like me, talk like me or live like me yet I can love them just as I am. What a privilege to be used by God to connect with women and children around the world and let his light shine.

Back home, I’m married to my favourite Irishman Brian, we live in Sydney’s beautiful northern beaches, a far cry from the back blocks of Uganda and beyond. I have my own business called Clarity Matters, where I love helping people declutter their homes and get organised.

I’m really looking forward to sharing how I got involved with Missions Trips and some of the stories along the journey when we meet in July.

Hope to see you at Women2Women, Helen xx
