Enough Already

John 6

Reading about Jesus feeding the five thousand got me thinking about what is “enough”.

In this scripture a young boy’s willingness to share his lunch was enough and a few loaves of bread and two fish were enough.

Jesus said to believe is enough.

In verses 28 -29 the people following Jesus asked “ What does God want us to do?” Jesus told them, “This is what God wants you to do: Believe in the one he has sent”

Some other “enoughs”- the widow’s single coin was enough, faith as big as a mustard seed is enough and the grasp of a hand on Jesus cloak was enough.

So why do we so often feel the pressure that we are not enough – not yet – one day maybe – but not yet – that we have to be more, do more or have more – and somehow then we will be enough for Him and for others. Mmm so am I waiting for more faith before I can receive, a nicer home before I invite someone for lunch, more money before I give, more skill before I have a go at something,  more eloquent words before I start to tell my story, more inspiration before I start to be creative.  That young boy just offered what he had that day and it was enough for Jesus to work a miracle.

Another enough – Jesus says His grace is more than enough. “ My gracious favour is all you need. My power works best in your weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)

So reading this I am thinking  – who we are and what we have to offer today is enough – with all our imperfections and limitations. In believing Him and just offering what we have – we are enough. What a relief – He knows our weaknesses and our self imposed “not enoughs”. He knows all about them and in His hands –  they are more than enough.

So lets just use and enjoy what we have today- the gifts, the time, the home, the smarts, the creativity – because with Jesus right now –  your enough already!

from last weeks post “You are Here”

 – – – I know exactly how the shopping centre scene goes. Had a few of those ‘what the’ (moments) also. You know Tracey I am so aware that ‘His life is my life, its my sustenance, my way thru & my joy.’ I am also aware of those around me, my market place, my non christian family and friends that do not have what we have. Your message inspires me to do my job of sharing the gospel MAN I am so glad I get help there also. Praise The Master
