Just Eat

John Chapter 6: 29-70

Hi Ladies

In the second part of John 6 Jesus describes himself as the “bread of life” – living bread.

“ I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again”.

First water in chapter 4 and then bread – the staples of life – the basics of sustenance and nourishment. Jesus shared his clear simple life giving message to the crowds of people following him  – but they found it hard to swallow.  They argued, complained, got cranky, demanded miracles and pointed the finger at Jesus. (verses 41-43 and 52) They questioned Can it really be true? Is He for real? How is it possible? It stuck in their throat.  Even the disciples wondered,  “How can anyone accept it” A thirsty and hungry people who wouldn’t eat and drink. What stopped them from hearing – their history, their religious teachings, their idea of a far off God?

What stops us from hearing and receiving sometimes? Is it the same sort of things? Even as Christians – do we over think His clear simple message of life, do we balk at His complete and unconditional love for us and question His – no matter what – forgiveness of our sin – does it seem too incredible? Do we count ourselves out because we can’t quite fathom that kind of unfathomable love and do we fall back into “what do I have to do”? I know I’ve done all of those things at times.

So we could just leave our heads out of it for a bit. I know, I know – us girls like to think things through – a lot! – but its sometimes to our detriment. When we are hungry and have good food in front of us or when we are thirsty and there is cool drink – who stops and thinks about it? – We just eat it and drink it and enjoy – and we can feel it doing us good – so enough with thinking so hard – – lets just receive the Bread of Life into our hearts – take it in and let it do us good. Let it revive and refresh us as its meant to do and – – – let Him change our minds. Some bread of life today:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” Matthew 11:28-30

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you: I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid”.  John 14:27

Have a great day

Comments from last weeks post “Enough Already”

Wow, Tracey this so touched my heart today and brought a tear to my eye. There are so many women out there that are constantly told that they are not good enough, not smart enough, not what others expect of them. I hope all women take this message to heart. If they are being told they are not “enough” they need to ask themselves, is this what Jesus would be saying to me? If they answer no (and they should) then they need to realize that this is the devil speaking through someone and reject this attack on themselves. Resist the devil. Jesus strengthens those that are weak. I hope this makes sense. Susie

Good thought I need to be reminded that I am good enough with my imperfections and that God will use them and do His work with them. Inge
