A Living Hope

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:2-3

Hi ladies – hope you have all had a beautiful Easter weekend.

Easter is one of my favourite times of the year – it seems slower somehow and there’s a beautiful reverence about it as we think on all that Jesus has done. I like it’s hushed tones. It always gets colder and the weather itself seems to quiet us down especially this year with the rain that kept up Friday and Saturday.

And then – – –

Like a miracle, the grey and rain gave way to a sparkling, glorious and resplendent Easter Sunday that shouted the resurrection of Christ that called out for us to celebrate Him.

Weeping may remain for a night but rejoicing comes in the morning Psalm 30:5

And what a morning – the worlds reprieve, it’s only hope. We have not been left alone. We are not forsaken. Our Hope is living and breathing.  Our Hope put on skin, embraced earth and then shed it – so that we could too – broke it’s death grip and it’s hold over us. Because God had mercy on us. No small thing there.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade 1 Peter 1:3-4

I’m so grateful to have Him. Though there’s weeping and sorrow in our lives at times it’s not a hopeless grief, its not an utter despair – we are never without Him, we are never on our own. A living Hope, a real chance, a powerful God. Our rejoicing isn’t empty either, our laughter not false, not an escape or a cover for our pain. It’s the gladness and security that comes from knowing Him, from knowing what a gift we have in Him.

Reason to celebrate, reason to be thankful, Christ our sure and only Hope.
