The Have and Have Not’s

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

It’s just too easy to look at what others have. Be it success or smarts or personality or property or career or finances. Too easy to look and compare and try and keep up and get ahead and strive to fit in. Way too easy to worry we haven’t enough. Our need to be OK and to matter can turn into an ugly and selfish pass time.

Looking at what others have too closely we miss seeing what others haven’t – their need, their hunger, their loss, their loneliness, their brokenness.

Looking at what we haven’t too closely we might forget what we have. We have “Christ in us the hope of Glory (Colossians 1:27). We have “all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence (2 Peter 1:3)

What we have is there to give.

We aren’t called to a life of fret and worry. We aren’t called to compete or keep up or be important. Ours is a high calling. It’s a calling to love and give and look after each other out of what God has given us.  That’s the best version of us. That’s where we see God at work. That’s where our needs are met. That’s where our joy can be full. The riches of His glory best seen when we are loving the people He gives us, the people He brings along our path – each other.

There’s this:

Bare one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfil the law of Christ. (Galations 6:2)

And this:

“There’s always some one right in front of me who has needs that I am perfectly suited to meet, regardless of my education level, my current job, or my socioeconomic status in life”. Edie Wadsworth www.lifeingraceblog.com

And this:

“Everything is God’s to give and to take away, so share what you have been given, and that includes yourself” Mother Theresa A Simple Path

Let’s continue to pray in agreement together for Sue Sweeney. “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture” (Malachi 4:2 NLT)

God Bless and have a great Wednesday.
