Glorious

John 17

And all of them since they are mine, belong to you: and you have given them back to me, so they are my glory. V 10

Us – His glory   – a manifestation of God’s greatness and presence that is awesome to behold – – -???

Not feeling glorious? Me either – not even close – but – – – this bit is glorious – Christ in us – His life on show and on display in us, able to be seen and felt and tasted by others. That’s glorious. The thing is – we are nothing and He is everything but He has chosen us nothings to display His glory  – made us partakers of it – us mortal things!! –  Handed us the eternal and made us companions of Christ and part of His work here on earth – by believing – nothing else.

Look at the disciples  – a motley crew at best – still squabbling amongst themselves, still fumbling to get their heads around all that Jesus was telling them, still learning even at the end and Peter about to deny that he even knew Jesus  – fallible, human but – – – believers in Jesus, sold out to Him despite themselves and Jesus –  full of compassion and love for them praying for God to “keep them and take care of them”  not wanting to leave them but totally  trusting them to continue His work after He was gone. He trusts us too.

Jesus brought glory to His father by doing all that He asked (v 4) and we do it the same way. When we believe Jesus we bring Him glory, when we love others we bring Him glory, when we put a hands up and admit we cant do it on our own but need Him desperately we bring Him glory, when our words acknowledge what He has done for us we bring Him glory – Christ in you and me – His magnificent transforming work on display in us – our only hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27).
