God in the Small Places

But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew7:14

God here with me? – In this small place where I do ordinary things at an ordinary pace.

Not too busy elsewhere?? – Like with those amazing people doing incredible amazing things – and rightly so.

Yet I find Him here with me – and there’s the miracle.

Here with me when I stand at my kitchen sink and stare out the window.  My hands busy – but it’s where I can ask my questions and ponder and pray.

And when I stop and breathe in deep – close my eyes for a bit and let my heart go God’s way.

When I do something creative – when I fix and arrange and make things look nice – and it starts out as one thing and somewhere along the line it becomes something more than what I started with – more than this ordinary girl could do on her own.

When I write words  – most of the time they thud around and bump into each other awkwardly, they struggle to explain themselves – – – and then out of the blue when I stop thinking so hard – – – they start to sing and it feels like worship going up – then all the badly written words don’t matter

This too – I find Him in that song we sang last Sunday – that wont leave me alone, just one line sometimes that stays with me – it makes it’s home with me for a  bit and does something good my heart needs.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, – – – “ Luke 16:10

Our place can look small – but looks we know can be deceiving – because isn’t it within the very small place of our hearts that God works the miracle of salvation and within the so called smallness of our calling that there’s space for us to truly be ourselves, to grow and create and love and give. And isn’t it in the smallest of things that God can show His bigness and reveal His ways – like mustard seeds that grow enormous trees and a whisker of faith that moves mountains and a single coin that being given is worth more than plentiful gold.

“You can do no great things, only small things with great love.” Mother Theresa

I’m so thankful we have a God who tells his big story in small and delightful and quiet ways – who tells His story through us and in us and thankful – – – – He is here with me – even at my kitchen sink.

Love to you all today
